El Salvador continues to strengthen its security and defense capabilities through international cooperation. Minister of National Defense René Francis Merino Monroy reported on the recent delivery of equipment from the United States Southern Command (Southcom), as part of joint efforts to combat drug trafficking and other transnational threats in the region.
The donation was channeled through the Deputy Commander of Southern Command, Lieutenant General Pettus, and included a variety of strategic resources such as carbines, rifles, medical equipment, first aid kits, and spare parts for helicopter maintenance. These supplies were officially received by Salvadoran authorities with the aim of strengthening the operational capacity of the Armed Forces.

According to the Minister of Defense, some of the weaponry has already been distributed to key units. In particular, the Special Forces Command and various Army units received MK-22 rifles and M4 carbines, equipment that will directly improve the response to threats to national security.
The minister emphasized that this type of support not only increases the tactical capabilities of the military forces but also ensures that soldiers have the appropriate tools to carry out their missions more effectively. He also stressed that the addition of medical and first aid equipment is essential for addressing emergency situations in field operations.

Authorities indicated that this donation is part of a sustained cooperative relationship between El Salvador and the United States, based on shared interests such as regional stability, security, and the fight against criminal organizations operating internationally. In this regard, the support from the U.S. Military Group reflects a strategic alliance that has strengthened in recent years.

The salvadoran government believes that these types of actions contribute to consolidating its security efforts, particularly in combating drug trafficking and dismantling transnational criminal networks. Furthermore, it allows for progress in modernizing its armed forces, adapting them to current challenges.
With this new equipment delivery, El Salvador reaffirms its commitment to continue working in coordination with international allies to guarantee the security of the country and the region, in a context where bilateral cooperation remains key to confronting common threats.
