The Ministry of Finance is encouraging taxpayers to settle their outstanding tax obligations through the 2026 Tax Amnesty, a program that allows for the regularization of overdue debts without the imposition of fines or late-payment interest. The Ministry stated that the program covers tax and customs obligations, as well as traffic fines, provided they relate to debts that were overdue as of september 30, 2026.
Among the options offered, taxpayers may pay their outstanding balances in up to nine installments, with an initial payment equivalent to 10% of the total debt. This arrangement is designed to provide taxpayers with a way to spread out their payments and resolve their tax status without needing to pay the full amount at once.
Another key benefit is that the entire process can be completed online via the Ministry of Finance’s digital channels. This allows taxpayers to enroll in the program without the need for an in-person visit to government offices, making it easier to access the benefit and streamlining the regularization process.
The amnesty covers debts related to tax matters, including obligations managed by the Ministry of Finance, as well as customs issues linked to foreign trade operations. According to the Ministry, it also includes traffic fines. Taxpayers should verify that their specific obligations meet the established criteria to qualify for amnesty.
The deadline to take advantage of the 2026 Tax Amnesty is december 11, 2026. The Ministry of Finance urges the public to review their status and complete the necessary procedures before this date to benefit from the waiver of fines and late-payment interest.
Those interested can review the requirements and enrollment procedures on the Ministry of Finance’s official website: www.mh.gob.sv. Before starting the process, it is important to verify the debt amount, confirm that it falls within the established timeframe, and review the conditions applicable to the payment plan.
