The Ministry of Housing delivered property deeds to 85 families in the district of San Fernando, Chalatenango, who, after decades of living on their land, finally obtain the legal security that guarantees them ownership of their properties. This delivery benefits residents of the cantons of Llanitos, Hierbabuena, San Juan de la Cruz, Barrio Nuevo and Barrio El Centro.
The process of legalizing the properties had an investment of US$85,000, financed by funds from the European Union and the Government of President Nayib Bukele. As a result of this intervention, the beneficiary families recovered approximately US$425,000 in property value, consolidating their right to the land.
In addition to receiving legal documentation, the women of the community, who are dedicated to cultivating the land, gave fruits and vegetables from their harvest to the minister and her team in recognition of their work. This gesture reflected the gratitude of the residents for the work carried out in their community.
San Fernando, located 107 km from San Salvador and 300 meters from the border with Honduras, was the epicenter of this effort by the Ministry of Housing. The technical teams of the Housing System worked hard for months to legalize the properties.
The affection of the community was palpable at all times, as evidenced when the residents gave a bag with products harvested from their land to the collaborators of the technical team, as a sign of gratitude for the efforts to benefit the community.
