AES CLESA, a company of AES El Salvador, executed 11 projects of Normalización de Líneas a Terceros (NLT), with the objective of improving the electrical infrastructure in various rural communities in the western part of the country.
More than 500 households in the departments of Sonsonate, Santa Ana and La Libertad benefited from the new electrical installations. One such family is that of Nicolas, a farmer who resides in the hamlet of El Amatal, district of Acajutla, Sonsonate.
Nicolas, after the recent completion of the standardization projects in his community, decided to take an important step for the well-being of his family: remodel his house and install a modern electrical system. For years, nights in his home had been marked by the flickering light of candles and lanterns.
Now, with the peace of mind of having a constant supply of electricity, Nicolás set out to improve every corner of his home, from installing safe lights in every room to connecting new appliances that would make everyday tasks easier. With this change, Nicolas’ family not only found greater comfort, but also renewed hope for their future and the drive to continue to thrive.
The line standardization projects consist of replacing old, inadequate and deteriorated electrical installations built by uncertified individuals with new and modern power grids that do comply with the technical regulations of the Superintendencia General de Electricidad y Telecomunicaciones (SIGET).
In 2024, the electric company has invested US$2.4 million in Normalización de Líneas de Terceros projects throughout the country. These initiatives are part of the commitment of AES El Salvador and its distribution companies to promote progress and quality of life in vulnerable areas through access to a safe and constant energy service, thus promoting the development of communities.
