The Minister of Housing, Michelle Sol, led the delivery of 19 property deeds to families in the Santa María subdivision, in the district of Ciudad Arce, La Libertad Centro. The event was also attended by authorities such as Attorney General René Escobar, the president of the Defensoría del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar, and other officials. The process not only provided legal certainty, but also enabled the recovery of US$190,000 for the affected families.

The beneficiary families had been waiting for nearly 20 years for this document that guarantees them the legal right to their land. The Minister emphasized that this delivery is only the beginning, and that more families will receive their titles in the coming months as part of the coordinated effort between different institutions.

Ricardo Salazar urged those who have been victims of irregular lotificadoras to denounce and seek support from state institutions. He assured that the delivery of deeds is a way of doing justice and dignifying those who for years have been ignored. “Today we are witnesses of an act that gives faith and hope to other communities in similar situations”, she said.
Minister Sol also mentioned that there are still more than 350,000 families nationwide pending to receive their deeds, and that the Government is working on mechanisms to expedite these processes. “We are looking for easier and faster ways to guarantee the legal security that so many families deserve”, she said.

Having a deed, Salazar added, not only represents a legal document, but an opportunity to inherit stability and future to the next generations. “That is very valuable”, he concluded.
