From may 27 to june 9, 2025, the reference prices of fuels in El Salvador reflect an increase of up to US$0.06 per gallon of superior and regular gasoline, while diesel registers an increase of up to US$0.05, according to data from the Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM).

For Superior gasoline, the increase is US$0.06, standing at US$3.81 in the Central Zone, US$3.82 in the Western Zone and US$3.85 in the Eastern Zone. Regular gasoline also increases US$0.06, reaching US$3.55 in the Central Zone, US$3.56 in the Western Zone and US$3.59 in the Eastern Zone. Diesel increases US$0.05, fixing its price at US$3.28 in the Central Zone, US$3.29 in the Western Zone and US$3.33 in the Eastern Zone. These changes reflect the interaction of several factors that affect the international hydrocarbons market, impacting distribution costs in the country.

One of the elements to consider in the current dynamics of the energy market is the situation in the Middle East, particularly the implications of relations between Israel and Iran.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) has provided relevant information on global reserves. While marginal increases in gasoline and diesel stocks have been reported, the IEA has also pointed out that these volumes are measured relative to previous variations and steady market demand. This balance between global supply and demand is a determining factor in setting international prices and their subsequent impact on domestic tariffs.

Likewise, economic agreements between major global players, such as the temporary tariff understanding between the United States and China, can influence the energy market. These types of agreements, by promoting greater economic and commercial activity, may generate an increase in the demand for oil and its derivatives, which is consequently reflected in the international prices of these products.
The Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas publishes these references so that consumers have updated information. It is important that citizens know the specific prices for each zone of the country and plan their consumption according to these adjustments.
