The Government of El Salvador, through the Ministry of Housing, has executed one of the largest housing investments in the country’s history. With an allocation of close to US$1.1 billion, more than 120,000 families have benefited from projects aimed at improving their quality of life.

The Minister of Housing, Michelle Sol, explained that US$1,028 million have been channeled to facilitate housing loans. This investment has allowed 52,121 families to acquire their own home, whether new, used, or repossessed, promoting the economic and emotional stability of thousands of salvadorans.
In addition, US$73 million has been allocated to complementary programs such as the delivery of deeds, resettlement, urban interventions, and housing projects. These actions have impacted another 68,000 families, contributing to the regularization of properties and access to safe housing.

The housing project not only responds to the housing deficit, but also transforms entire communities. The Housing System’s approach has been comprehensive, with a social vision that promotes equity, inclusion, and sustainable urban regeneration throughout the country.
This public policy reflects a structural change in the way the right to decent housing is conceived. With political will, planning and human vision, El Salvador is moving towards a people-centered development model.
