
El Salvador’s Foreign Minister, Alexandra Hill, met with her Panamanian counterpart, Javier Martínez-Acha, at the Salvadoran Foreign Ministry headquarters, where both officials discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations and expand joint efforts between the two nations.
During the meeting, the foreign ministers expressed their interest in promoting a shared agenda in areas such as cooperation and economic exchanges, with the aim of generating new business opportunities, investments, and productive projects that will benefit both countries.
Martínez-Acha highlighted the transformation process that El Salvador has undergone and noted that these conditions have allowed the country to position itself as a strategic ally in the region. In this context, he expressed Panama’s interest in establishing an alliance that would allow both economies to leverage their respective strengths.
The panamanian official explained that El Salvador and Panama have productive and logistical platforms and access to important markets, characteristics that can be combined to generate greater economic opportunities. The intention is to leverage these advantages to foster a closer relationship between the productive sectors of both nations.
Alexandra Hill emphasized that strengthening ties will depend on the willingness of both countries to work together. The salvadoran Foreign Minister noted that Panama and El Salvador maintain a friendly relationship and that there is interest in moving toward cooperation that will benefit their respective peoples.
In addition to the economic component, the meeting facilitated the signing of an academic cooperation agreement between the institutions responsible for diplomatic training in both countries. The agreement seeks to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and experiences among officials and specialists from the two foreign ministries.
The agreement includes initiatives such as the exchange of professors and experts, as well as the organization of diploma programs, workshops, and conferences. It also includes the exchange of publications and specialized research between the Instituto Diplomático “Doctor José Gustavo Guerrero”, of El Salvador, and Academia Diplomática y Consular “Ernesto Castillero Pimentel”, of Panamá.
The Panamanian foreign minister also plans to meet with representatives of the salvadoran business sector, seeking to broaden the dialogue on potential trade and investment opportunities. These meetings are part of both countries’ efforts to deepen their relations and build new areas of cooperation.
