The port of Acajutla, in the department of Sonsonate, experienced a day of splendor this friday with the arrival of the imposing Eurodam cruise ship, an internationally renowned vessel belonging to the prestigious Holland America Line. With more than 1,800 tourists on board, mostly from various European countries, this visit represents not only a milestone for Salvadoran maritime tourism, but also an invaluable opportunity for the national economic dynamism.

The visitors were warmly and securely received by the División de Policía Turística (Politur),which accompanied their disembarkation and tour of the most emblematic destinations in the western part of the country. Paradisiacal beaches, stunning mountain landscapes, and cultural gems such as archaeological sites and traditional villages were part of the itinerary that captivated tourists. In addition to enjoying themselves, they also shopped and consumed local products, generating a direct economic impact on local commerce.

The arrival of the Eurodam is part of an ambitious national strategy to consolidate El Salvador as a cruise destination in the region. This type of high-net-worth tourism boosts not only local commerce but also tourism services, transportation, gastronomy, and handicrafts, benefiting small and medium-sized businesses and fostering job creation in nearby communities.

This event not only positions El Salvador on the continent’s most prominent cruise routes but also reflects the country’s growing international recognition as a safe, diverse, and charming destination. The presence of European tourists, who value Salvadoran cultural and natural wealth, marks a firm step toward a future where tourism is a key driver of the country’s sustainable economic development.
