La alcaldía de San Salvador Centro detailed the Special Plan for All Souls’ Day, which covers the 18 municipal cemeteries under its jurisdiction. The primary objective is to ensure that the thousands of families who will visit the cemeteries can honor the memory of their loved ones in a completely safe, orderly, and clean environment.

“Various municipal agencies have previously carried out cleaning, sanitizing, and renovation tasks at the cemeteries in the five districts, where a massive influx is expected, with a projection of more than 50,000 visitors at Cementerio La Bermeja. The plan includes interventions before, during, and after the commemoration”, explained Reynaldo Pérez, administrator of Municipal Cemeteries.

On november 1 and 2, the municipal cemeteries will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Support will be provided through information points, emergency care, and wheelchair loans for seniors. There will also be live music and children’s workshops.

Irvin Rodríguez, head of the Technical Unit for Commerce in Public Spaces, said that “there will be 430 authorized sales stands in specific areas in front of cemeteries for the organized sale of flowers and various products”. The Ministry of Culture announced that it will hold special, free Necrotour events at Cementerio Los Ilustres on october 30 and 31, as well as november 1 and 2.

Spaces will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis at 7:00, 9:00, and 11:00 p.m. Also, on november 2 at 5:30 p.m., the “Day of the Dead Festival Parade” will take place from the Palacio Nacional to Los Cementerio Los Ilustres, featuring the Bicentennial Band and those registered for the 2025 Catrines Contest (prizes of $300, $150, and $50). There will also be traditional altars in the plazas of the Historic Center.

“Cleaning tasks will be carried out by 140 employees, covering internal areas, streets, sidewalks, and main thoroughfares near the cemeteries. Additionally, 100 barrel-shaped trash cans will be installed and waste will be collected”, shared the Director of Solid Waste, German Muñoz. Cuerpo de Agentes Metropolitanos (CAM) will maintain a presence to monitor external parking areas and supervise the entry of visitors.
