
Emergencies attended to nationwide registered a 47% reduction during the period of december 23-24, 2025, as a result of the preventive and response actions implemented within the framework of the Year-End Plan, reported the Comisión Nacional de Protección Civil from El Tunco beach.
According to the director of the El Salvador Cuerpo de Bomberos, Baltazar Solano, the total number of emergencies attended to dropped from 60 in 2024 to 32 in 2025, a decrease that reflects the impact of preventive work, prior inspections, and coordination among the institutions of the Sistema Nacional de Protección Civil, as well as the public’s adherence to recommendations.

Following this general assessment, authorities detailed the traffic accidents recorded during the same period. The director of Protection Civil, Luis Alonso Amaya, reported that between the night of december 23 and 24, 143 traffic accidents were recorded, leaving 98 people injured, four dead, and the arrest of 12 dangerous drivers, figures that keep road safety as one of the main challenges during the festivities.
Regarding fires, Solano explained that brush fires decreased from 32 to 19 cases; forest fires dropped from one in 2024 to zero in 2025; landfill fires decreased from nine to two, equivalent to a 78% reduction; and structural fires fell from 12 to five, representing a 58% decrease compared to the previous year.

Regarding water emergencies, the Protección Civil Director detailed that three deep water rescues were recorded, with no reports of minor rescues. The three people involved, two adults and a minor, were rescued alive thanks to the timely intervention of the rescue teams.
Authorities emphasized that this preliminary assessment confirms the effectiveness of the End-of-Year Plan, based on prevention, control, and immediate response—actions that have significantly reduced the number of emergencies attended to and protected the lives of the salvadoran population during the holiday season.
