President Nayib Bukele expressed his gratitude to the thousands of companies that confirmed their voluntary participation in the Ley Quincena 25, emphasizing that the support of the private sector is key for this measure to have a direct impact on salvadoran families and the national economy. The president noted that the joint effort between the government, businesses, and workers will strengthen household income and boost economic activity throughout the country.
The president’s message came after numerous companies publicly announced their adherence to the initiative, following the law’s approval by the Legislative Assembly. These confirmations reinforced the scope of the measure and marked a first step in its nationwide implementation.
The Ley Quincena 25 was introduced by the Executive Branch as a concrete response to the economic hardships historically faced by many families during the month of january. The legislation establishes a supplementary income equivalent to 50% of the monthly salary, to be paid between january 15th and 25th to public and private sector workers earning up to US$1,500.
As approved, this income does not replace the regular salary, will not be subject to income tax, ISSS, or AFP deductions, and cannot be garnished, with the aim of ensuring that the benefit reaches workers in full.

President Bukele also indicated that the government will be the first to implement the law starting in january 2026, covering all public employees. In the private sector, implementation will be gradual and responsible, prioritizing job protection and business stability.
During the first year, the payment will be voluntary for private companies and will be accompanied by a tax incentive, allowing them to deduct 100% of the amount paid from their Income Tax, thus facilitating the adoption of the measure.
The president emphasized that the Ley Quincena 25 will directly benefit families, boost consumption, and stimulate business, generating a positive effect on the economy. Finally, he reiterated his gratitude to the companies that joined from the beginning and assured that cooperation between the government, the private sector, and workers will be fundamental to continuing to drive the country’s development.
