In line with its purpose of “Building Progress for People and the Planet”, Holcim El Salvador, through its Fundación Holcim, reaffirms its commitment to the country’s social development through initiatives that promote decent housing as a fundamental pillar for the sustainable progress of communities.
For Holcim, decent housing is much more than adequate infrastructure: it represents the starting point for strengthening people’s safety, health, education, and economic opportunities. Through innovative and accessible construction solutions, the company contributes to transforming the housing conditions of vulnerable families, generating an immediate and tangible impact on their quality of life and strengthening the social fabric of the communities where it operates.
At Holcim, we believe that decent housing is the starting point for improving the quality of life in our communities. That is why we understand that it is a social investment that generates not only economic value but also human value, laying the foundations for sustainable development in El Salvador. Through innovative and accessible construction solutions, we work on different projects to transform the housing conditions of the communities near our operations, generate real improvements in the quality of life of families, and invest in the productive future of the country”, said Rocío Flores, Sustainable Development manager at Holcim El Salvador.

This approach responds to a long-term vision in which improving housing not only dignifies the lives of families but also drives the country’s economic and social development. Having safe and resilient homes creates environments that promote stability, collective well-being, and the generation of opportunities, especially in communities with greater social challenges.

Projects that transform lives
As part of this commitment, Holcim El Salvador develops strategic projects focused on improving housing in communities near its operations. One of these projects stems from the partnership between Fundación Holcim y Hábitat El Salvador, aimed at promoting transformative and sustainable development in the areas of influence of both organizations. This initiative enabled the structural improvement of 25 homes for vulnerable families, complemented by training in risk management and financial education, strengthening the resilience and autonomy of the beneficiary households.

In addition, the company carried out a structural improvement project for homes in Metapán and Tepeagua, benefiting 25 families from communities near its operations. The interventions, which included improvements to roofs, floors, sanitation systems, and water storage, were designed according to the specific needs of each household, contributing to safer environments and more dignified living conditions.
Holcim El Salvador’s commitment to sustainable progress is reflected in the impact of its social initiatives, which in 2025 benefited 2,706 people in nine communities through programs focused on decent housing, women’s empowerment through the Introduction to Construction Diploma, scholarships for students in various engineering careers, and Open House programs that bring future professionals closer to its operations.

The company also promoted volunteer activities, contributing 80 hours of community service and strengthening training and ties with the local community through clean-up and reforestation days in the communities of San Miguelito and Agua Fría, in Metapán, with the participation of students, teachers, community leaders, parents, and company volunteers.
With these actions, Holcim El Salvador consolidates its leadership as a company that integrates innovation, sustainability, and social commitment, contributing to the country’s development and the well-being of Salvadoran families.
