The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, participated as a guest at the 74th National Prayer Breakfast, held in Washington, D.C., one of the most prestigious political and spiritual gatherings in the United States, which brings together heads of state, political leaders, business leaders, and representatives from various sectors internationally each year.
The salvadoran president’s participation in this high-level event reflects El Salvador’s position on the international agenda and the interest of key stakeholders in learning firsthand about the country’s vision and experience in governance, security, and development. The National Prayer Breakfast has become a well-established forum for informal dialogue where diplomatic relations are strengthened and perspectives on global challenges are exchanged.
During his address to religious leaders and political figures, former US President Donald Trump stated that, of all those present, salvadoran President Nayib Bukele was his “favorite person”, while highlighting the bilateral cooperation that, he said, was strengthened during his administration.
Trump emphasized that this collaboration focused primarily on combating criminal organizations and strengthening security, areas he described as priority priorities on the joint agenda between the two governments.
The remarks were made during a meeting with religious leaders and political representatives, where topics related to security, governance, and international cooperation were discussed.

The National Prayer Breakfast was also attended by high-ranking U.S. government officials, demonstrating the level of attention this gathering generates and the importance placed on ties with invited international leaders. In this context, Bukele’s participation is interpreted as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral dialogue and project El Salvador’s image to an influential audience.
The National Prayer Breakfast, held for more than seven decades, combines spiritual reflection with spaces for political engagement, making it a key platform for international diplomacy. The invitation extended to President Nayib Bukele and his presence at this forum reinforce the country’s visibility and its role in global discussions.
