The Vice Minister Ad-Honorem of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería de El Salvador (MAG), Óscar Domínguez, affirmed that there is no banana shortage in the country and that, on the contrary, the production of this strategic crop has increased significantly.
Through his account on X, the official explained that bananas, one of the most consumed products by salvadoran families, are among the crops that have shown sustained growth as a result of the phased work promoted by the institution to strengthen agricultural production.
Call to verify supply

Domínguez noted that in recent days rumors have circulated about a supposed shortage of bananas in the national market. However, he assured that the reality is different and invited the public to directly verify the supply at the Central de Abastos in San Salvador and in the various markets throughout the country.
According to the deputy minister, the current supply ensures product availability for retailers and consumers, guaranteeing a stable supply.
Production and food security
The official emphasized that the Ministry continues to implement measures to ensure agricultural production, not only of bananas, but also of other crops considered strategic for food security.

These measures aim to strengthen national production capacity, reduce external dependence, and maintain affordable food for salvadorans. According to the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería de El Salvador (MAG), the approach is to work in a planned and progressive manner to guarantee a stable supply and support for producers.
With these statements, the institution reiterated that the market currently has a sufficient supply of bananas and that there is no shortage at the national level.
