Parque Natural Puerta del Diablo has positioned itself as one of the most visited destinations during the Holy Week holidays, registering a high influx of tourists traveling to different parts of the country during these holidays.
Located in the Panchimalco district of southern San Salvador, this site, managed by the Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo has captured the attention of national and international visitors thanks to its natural surroundings, cool climate, and proximity to the capital, allowing access in approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
Increased visitors during holidays
During the first days of the holiday period, the park has welcomed numerous families, groups of friends, and tourists seeking to enjoy its natural attractions and outdoor activities. The trend indicates that the influx will continue to increase during the remaining days of Holy Week, considered the peak tourist season in the country.
This trend is due to many salvadorans taking advantage of the holidays to travel within the country, trusting in the security conditions that have allowed for greater movement to tourist destinations.
Attractions that encourage a visit

The park is known for its rock formations and natural viewpoints, offering panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Lake Ilopango, and the San Vicente Volcano. Among its main attractions are the rock formations known as “El Chulito,” “El Chulo,” and “El Chulón”, which offer varying levels of access for visitors.
In addition, the park offers diverse recreational activities such as hiking, rappelling, zip-lining, rock climbing, and camping areas, making it an attractive option for different types of tourists.
Pedestrian access is free, while parking and entry to some specific areas have an affordable fee, facilitating visitor access during peak season.
Renewal and increased dynamism
The park’s renewed appeal has also contributed to the increase in visitors. After a renovation process, the site reopened in december 2023, offering improved conditions for visitors.

In addition, the extended hours, with the park now operating from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., make it one of the few tourist destinations with nighttime service, thus expanding options for tourists.
Expectations for the end of the season
Authorities anticipate an increase in visitor numbers in the coming days, especially during the weekend, when the largest number of tourists traditionally visit.
Parque Natural Puerta del Diablo is thus solidifying its position as one of the main attractions this Holy Week, boosting domestic tourism and stimulating the local economy, while continuing to attract Sslvadorans seeking to enjoy nature without venturing too far from the city.
