Labor minister Rolando Castro announced that the departure of the largest contingent of salvadoran workers to Canada will be presented this tuesday. This is part of the Programa de Migración Laboral an initiative that allows salvadorans to access temporary jobs abroad legally and safely.
The official emphasized that the beneficiaries will travel by air, avoiding the risks of irregular migration. “There is no risk of crossing a river or desert and losing their lives. They will take a plane, and it will be through a legal, orderly, safe, and circular route”, he said.

Castro affirmed that this program seeks to transform the lives of salvadoran families by providing them with employment opportunities abroad, allowing them to improve their income and return to the country once their contracts are completed. “Public service is only worthwhile if you change the lives of those who need it most”, he said.
During a video released by the Ministry of Labor, one of the beneficiaries, Daniel Romero, described the opportunity as “a blessing” and asserted that these types of initiatives should have been implemented many years ago for the benefit of the working class.

The minister reiterated that salvadoran workers are highly valued in the countries where they work. “We always say that, wherever we go in the world, we have the best workers in the world”, he said.

The Programa de Migración Laboral continues to facilitate temporary employment opportunities for salvadorans under a model of regular, orderly, safe, and circular migration, with the goal of reducing irregular migration and generating new development opportunities for the beneficiary families.
