During the event, she also announced the acquisition of the building that houses the institution, making it the first permanent headquarters in the Tribunal’s history.
“Any institution that aspires to transcend must be able to respond to the needs of the present while building the foundations for the future”, the President emphasized. In this context, she explained that the updated Electoral Calendar guarantees that each stage of the electoral process will unfold in an orderly manner, with legal certainty and security for citizens, adapting promptly to the new legal framework.
Key dates include:
- August 27, 2026: Deadline for salvadoran residents to update their address on their Documento Único de Identidad (DUI) to vote at a polling station closer to their home.

Elections. In addition to the progress in planning the electoral process, the Electoral Tribunal announced a strategic decision for institutional strengthening and the efficient management of public resources.
Regarding the acquisition of the property, the Chief Justice stated:
“Some decisions transcend a single administration because they leave a legacy for future generations and an asset for the State. Today, this building is no longer a leased property”. Today, this building officially becomes the permanent headquarters of the Tribunal Supremo Electoral.
He also noted that:
“For decades, the Tribunal carried out its functions in rented buildings, being the only electoral authority in Central America that did not have its own headquarters.

“This acquisition goes beyond the purchase of a property. It constitutes a strategic decision that strengthens the Court, reflects responsible management, and demonstrates a firm commitment to the efficient use of public resources”.
During the event, it was reported that in the last five years, the State allocated more than $6.6 million to lease payments for the building, an amount equivalent to more than 66% of the property’s acquisition value. Furthermore, if the lease agreement is maintained for the next thirty years, the State will have disbursed more than $50 million solely for lease payments.
In this regard, the Chief Justice said:
“The best investment for a democracy will always be to strengthen its institutions. And strengthening them also means managing public resources responsibly”.
Finally, she expressed that the new headquarters represents a legacy for future generations and a lasting symbol of institutional stability.

“May this building be, from now on and for future generations, a public asset, a permanent symbol of institutional stability, independence, public service, and commitment to Salvadoran democracy”, said the President of the TSE.
With these actions, the Tribunal Supremo Electoral continues to advance in organizing the 2027 Elections, strengthening its institutional capacities and providing certainty at each stage of the process. It also invites all citizens, both within and outside the country to stay informed through official channels, adhere to the deadlines established in the Electoral Calendar, and actively participate in the upcoming elections, exercising their right to vote as the highest expression of the will of the people.
