Tribunal Supremo Electoral (TSE) announced an expansion of the number of polling stations abroad for the 2027 elections, aiming to make voting more accessible to salvadorans living outside the country. In total, there will be 92 polling stations abroad, 11 more than those available for the 2024 elections.
The electoral body explained that the expansion is a response to the needs expressed by salvadorans living abroad. The new distribution seeks to facilitate voting by providing more centers and locations in cities with a significant presence of salvadoran citizens registered to vote.
The United States will have 53 polling stations, distributed across various cities. These include Washington, D.C. and Seattle; Omaha, Nebraska; Saint Paul, Minnesota; Chicago, Illinois; New York City and Plainview, New York; and Elizabeth, New Jersey. Las Vegas, Nevada; Salt Lake City, Utah; as well as various cities in California, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Arkansas, and Florida.

In California, polling centers will be set up in San Francisco, Fresno, San Bernardino, and Los Angeles, while Texas will have locations in Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. Centers are also planned for Tucson, Arizona; Aurora, Colorado; Springdale, Arkansas; and Doral, Florida. On the East Coast, cities such as Boston, Silver Spring, Maryland; Woodbridge, Virginia; Charlotte, North Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; and Duluth, Georgia, among others, are included.
For Canada, four polling centers have been established, located in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec. This way, salvadorans residing in different regions of the country will have designated locations to exercise their right to vote.
In Mexico, four polling centers will also be set up, located in Baja California, Nuevo León, Mexico City, and Chiapas. This distribution will allow for broader coverage for salvadorans living in different areas of Mexico.

The TSE indicated that the location and number of polling centers correspond to the number of salvadorans registered to vote in each city. The goal is for voters to have a polling center closer to home and better conditions for participating in the 2027 elections.
With this expansion, the electoral body seeks to strengthen the conditions for salvadorans both within and outside the country to exercise their electoral rights. The TSE emphasized that the measure is part of the efforts to bring electoral services closer to the diaspora and facilitate their participation in the upcoming elections.
