Cámara de Comercio e Industria de El Salvador (CAMARASAL) informed its members of the complete closure of the Los Chorros highway, scheduled for Saturday, august 22, and sunday, august 23, 2026, due to controlled blasting work being carried out by the Ministerio de Obras Públicas (MOP) in the area.
According to information shared by CAMARASAL, the closure will begin at 12:00 a.m. on saturday, august 22, and will last until 11:59 p.m. on sunday, august 23. The affected section is located past the Los Chorros water park, heading west.

Given this situation, the business association recommended that its members plan their routes and schedules in advance, especially companies that transport goods, personnel, or conduct operations between San Salvador and western El Salvador. The goal is to reduce delays and avoid inconveniences caused by the closure of one of the country’s main connecting roads.
Among the alternate routes available to drivers are the Comasagua-Jayaque highway, the San Juan Opico highway, the Quezaltepeque highway, the road to the Volcano, the Integración roundabout, the Apopa roundabout, Constitución Boulevard, and the Troncal del Norte highway. The availability of several options will help distribute traffic and facilitate mobility during the workday.

CAMARASAL also reported that the Ministerio de Obras Públicas (MOP) will deploy traffic controllers at strategic points, including the access roads to Santa Tecla and the El Poliedro area, to guide drivers and prevent them from entering the section that will remain closed. However, the association warned that the alternate routes could experience heavier traffic.
Therefore, the Chamber recommended that companies allow additional travel time, promptly communicate changes to employees, suppliers, and transportation teams, and stay informed of official updates regarding the road’s reopening and the progress of the work. The measure aims to ensure that business activities can continue with minimal disruption during the closure.
