The Information Risk and Security Institute (IRSI), an initiative within the corporate social responsibility program of Sistemas Aplicativos (SISAP) has opened applications for its 2027 cybersecurity training program. The program targets university students and technology professionals interested in specializing in this field across Central America, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Ecuador, and Colombia.
The scholarships, valued at US$5,000 per student, are fully funded through financial support from Supeduc and SISAP. This initiative offers an opportunity to specialize in a sector with a growing demand for talent, ensuring that training costs do not act as a barrier to entry.
As Adriana Rojas, Executive Director of IRSI, stated: “The program aims to provide knowledge regarding information security fundamentals, trends, and best practices, with a focus on strengthening the competencies needed to enter the job market”.
Interested candidates can review the requirements and submit their applications by november 30, 2026, via the official IRSI Admisiones website.
Practical training and industry connections
The program combines academic instruction with hands-on experience through 100% live online classes over a nine-month period (three terms). It includes opportunities to resolve questions directly with instructors and access to live labs where students can apply the knowledge they have gained.

As part of the curriculum, participants can also attend specialized events, such as the IRSI Conference and SANS Summits, at no cost. These events allow them to expand their professional networks and meet experts with established careers in cybersecurity.
Upon completion, students receive a diploma certifying the knowledge they have acquired and are prepared to pursue international certification in the field. Additionally, the program offers potential hiring opportunities for those who successfully complete their training.
With over eight years of presence in the region, the program continues to expand its reach and train new generations in cybersecurity. In 2026, it saw its largest graduating class to date, featuring students from Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Mexico.
According to the regional Cyber Resilience Index, El Salvador ranks fifth in the region.
IRSI posits that technological development can also help create equal opportunities and pave the way for professional specialization. With a record-breaking class, the program seeks to protect the region’s digital landscape and inspires a new generation of professionals eager to push their own limits.
