April 30 last day to file income tax returns

Written by Karla Gutiérrez

Next tuesday, april 30, 2024, is the last day for taxpayers to file their income tax return (ISR) for the fiscal year 2023.

The Ministry of Finance invites taxpayers online through the web portal https://portaldgii.mh.gob.sv/ssc/home that hosts the services of the General Directorate of Internal Taxes.

The ministry explained that natural persons may access the platform with their Documento Único de Identidad (DUI) -previously homologated with the Número de Identidad Tributaria (NIT); while legal entities and foreigners will continue accessing the online services through their NIT.

The Renta en Línea service has the information submitted by the Withholding Agents, which makes it possible to establish the taxable income subject to withholding that must be declared or incorporated to each return and filed online.

Recently, the minister of Finance, Jerson Posada, informed that, with data closed as of march 20, the system registered that 44% of income tax returns had already been filed.

Posada also mentioned that in 2024 there are positive projections of growth in the general tax collection, estimating a collection of around US$350 million.
