A. M. The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is advancing in the design of its Open Data Strategy, aligned with its new Access to Information Policy (PAI), which will go into effect in june 2025. With this initiative, the institution seeks to reinforce its commitment to transparency and accountability. To this end, it is working together with the Open Knowledge Foundation (OKFN), a global entity with extensive experience in open data management.
As part of this strategy, CABEI will implement CKAN, an open source software platform used internationally for the management and publication of open data. This system will make accessible and structured information available to the public, complying with global transparency standards.
The current efforts are in addition to previous initiatives carried out in 2024, such as the roundtables of experts organized at high-level events. Of particular note are the I International Congress on Open State and Governance in Costa Rica and the XXVII Meeting of the Transparency and Access to Information Network (RTA), the latter hosted by CABEI, setting a precedent in the region.
To ensure that the strategy responds to the needs of the public, the Bank will soon launch a public consultation. Through this mechanism, key inputs will be gathered to guide the dissemination of useful and accessible information to the public.
With this step, CABEI reinforces its role in promoting institutional openness, ensuring that open data management translates into greater access to information and better governance practices.
