
The General Director of Customs, Benjamín Mayorga, informed about the beginning of a workday focused on data analytics applied to risk management, an initiative that seeks to strengthen institutional capabilities and advance a more modern, efficient and trade facilitation customs.
The activity takes place with the support of representatives from the World Customs Organization, within the framework of the Global Trade Facilitation Program, an international effort that promotes best practices to optimize customs processes and strengthen security in commercial operations.

As Mayorga explained, this training and collaboration space will allow improving the strategic use of information, facilitating the identification of risks in foreign trade operations. Data analytics becomes a key tool for anticipating possible irregularities, optimizing controls and streamlining processes in the country’s customs.
The strengthening of these capabilities seeks to balance fundamental objectives: guaranteeing security in the income and exit of goods, and facilitating legitimate commerce through more agile and efficient processes. This is especially relevant in a context where the volume of commercial transactions requires greater precision in decision making.
