The Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo (ISTU) informed that, as of august 5, El Salvador has received 85,000 international visitors, which represents an increase of 16% compared to the same vacation period last year. Valeria López, head of Marketing of the ISTU, highlighted this achievement during a press conference, where she underlined the joint effort with the institutions of the Sistema Nacional de Protección Civil to guarantee the wellbeing of tourists.
In terms of domestic tourism, Lopez said that more than 1.3 million visitors have been registered in various destinations in the country. Among these, SívarLand has attracted 492,000 people, the Historic Center of San Salvador has received 293,000, and public tourist sites have had 232,000 visitors.
In addition, 152,000 people have visited public cultural sites, 124,000 have enjoyed public beaches, 10,000 have explored protected natural areas and 15,000 have toured the National Palace.
Lopez also noted that, despite the high volume of tourists, no incidents have been recorded in the recreational parks administered by the ISTU. This reflects the success of the security measures implemented to ensure a safe and pleasant experience for all visitors.
Likewise, it was announced that the country’s recreational parks have received 143,762 visitors, which demonstrates the popularity of these spaces and the constant effort of the ISTU to promote tourism and offer safe and accessible options for everyone.
The Government of El Salvador reaffirms its commitment to continue to ensure the safety of the salvadoran population and tourists, ensuring that everyone can enjoy their vacations without worries. This effort is reflected in the confidence of visitors and the notable increase in tourism figures.
