In this important event, salvadoran producer Cristian Hernández was recognized as supplier of excellence 2023 of the Tierra Fértil program.

The farmer grows cassava and vegetables in the Caluco area, who has been supplying the chain's stores in El Salvador since 2019.

His passion for agriculture and the opportunity to supply a multinational company led him to dedicate himself fully to harvesting cassava and later to planting vegetables.

In its beginnings as a supplier, it delivered 24 boxes per week, increasing its delivery to 720 boxes per week.

This growth has allowed the company to diversify into the planting of other products such as cilantro and radish, as well as the possibility of obtaining credit for the purchase of vehicles to transport the production, in addition to providing direct employment for 20 people in the Caluco area.

As a Walmart business partner, Hernández has received training in food safety, product preparation, packaging, and good agricultural practices. Thanks to this commercial relationship, the farmer has had significant growth and the opportunity to provide direct employment to people in the community, standing out as a supplier of excellence in the region.

"I feel great joy and personal satisfaction and I am grateful for the opportunity Walmart has given me to grow as a supplier. This award is a commitment to continue doing things well", said Hernández.

With the Supplier of Excellence award, Walmart seeks to encourage long-term business with its commercial partners under the principles of transparency, free competition, good faith, reciprocal loyalty, and cooperation, contained in its Code for Strengthening Good Commercial Practices.
