The official went in depth on the reforms proposed by the Government, among which are the endorsement for the construction of vertical free zones, exemptions from income and municipal taxes, the exemption of taxes on the importation of goods for the construction of these zones and the inclusion of the aquaculture sector among the economic sectors benefited.

The Minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem, explained that they are looking for the reform of the Free Zones Law to be functional. Through this, to generate more investments and opportunities that will translate into a better quality of life for the workers.

Free zone developers will have a total income tax exemption for a period of 10 years if the free zone activity is located in the metropolitan area and 15 years if it is located outside the metropolitan area.

Once this term has expired, the developers will be entitled to a partial exemption of 60% of the applicable income tax for a period of 10 years.

The same percentages and terms will apply to the municipal tax exemption proposed in the reforms. The Minister of Economy emphasized that the reforms seek to guarantee the rights of the workers in the free zones, providing spaces for the exchange of opinions with the employers and the promotion of labor policies that foster harmony and good development of the relations.

The official said that in order to move the country forward, the participation of workers, employers and the public sector is essential to carry out these actions that will bring greater investment, which will grow and generate more opportunities that will translate into an improvement in the quality of life of workers.
