US$161.8 million in foreign investment has been made by the Foreign ministry

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexandra Hill, presented today, the transformations experienced by El Salvador and the advances in foreign policy during 2023, before ambassadors and representatives of cooperation agencies accredited in our nation.

 

 

In her speech, Foreign minister Hill highlighted the establishment of diplomatic relations with nine African countries, an achievement that has allowed establishing diplomatic relations with 150 nations.

In economic and commercial matters, USD$161.8 million in foreign direct investment was generated during the five-year period that is about to end.

In addition, Chancellor Hill said that 142 business missions and 340 economic promotion events were attended, as well as the establishment of 45 economic agreements with strategic allies, which have allowed boosting the salvadoran economy.

She also indicated that in the area of economic development, important negotiations were held for the financing of projects in the country for USD$317 million in 2023 alone, as well as the projection of investments in the short and medium term for USD$123 million in different sectors.

In terms of technical and financial cooperation, the head of this State portfolio highlighted the management of USD$270.4 million with cooperating partners who have placed their trust in the development initiatives promoted by the salvadoran government.

Still in the area of cooperation, the diplomat pointed out the progress made in the sustained spaces for dialogue and collaboration mechanisms that have led to the establishment or follow-up of the different initiatives.

Minister Hill also highlighted the more than 4,200 scholarship opportunities for youth in different areas of study, as well as important donations that will contribute to the development of our country and benefit more Salvadorans. In the area of human rights, she highlighted the country's commitment to comply with and follow up on international recommendations, as well as representing the State before organizations and complying with international sentences.

With respect to the attention of salvadorans residing in the sectors delimited by the 1992 Hague ruling, minister Hill highlighted the beginning of the process of carnivization for border transit and safe trade.
