Likewise, Anliker expressed during a meeting with the regional director for North America, Central America and the Caribbean, of the Organización Internacional de Aviación Civil (OACI), Melvin Cintrón, that they have completed the feasibility studies for the construction of the Pacific Airport and are ready to lay the first stone in 2022.

Last june 21, 2022, with 66 votes, the deputies of the Legislative Assembly reformed the Budget Law 2022 and incorporated US$12 million to the Ministerio de Obras Públicas (MOP) for the execution of the first stage of the Pacific Airport, to be built in the department of La Unión.

The Pacific Airport, which will be located in La Unión, will generate around 23,000 jobs during the construction stage, while in the first 12 months of operation it will employ 4,700 people, according to the autonomous company's projections.
