These agreements are signed in order to facilitate the timely delivery of agricultural inputs for the production of corn and beans.
The head of MAG also explained to the mayors of the west that the Legislative Assembly approved the exemption of Value Added Tax (VAT) on purchases of inputs for the Agricultural Packages, thus allowing the benefit to reach more producers; therefore, he said that it is essential to work together to streamline the distribution process.
The activity was also attended by the director of the Centro Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria y Forestal, Edgardo Reyes, who in addition to explaining the importance of the Agricultural Packages and the technical assistance that will be provided, invited the municipal leaders to promote the purchase of agricultural inputs at the AgroCenta branch in Ahuachapán, since producers can save up to 20% compared to market prices.
The director of the Escuela Nacional de Agricultura (ENA), Odette Varela, said that MAG is promoting the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices and the recycling program for agricultural packaging, an initiative that seeks to reduce the impact of agricultural activities on the environment and ecosystems.
The mayors showed their willingness to contribute with MAG in the delivery of the Agricultural Packages, and agreed on the importance of working together.
The signing of agreements with the municipalities began last february 18, with the mayors of La Unión, San Miguel, Morazán and Usulután; this is how the ministry seeks that all public institutions unite for the good of the population, since the delivery of the Agricultural Packages ensures the production of food for the consumption of more than half a million salvadoran families.
