Ministry of Labor declares eradication of child labor in sugar cane cultivation and harvesting in El Salvador
The sugar agroindustry in El Salvador assumed more than 20 years ago the commitment to progressively, but steadily, eliminate hazardous child labor in the cultivation and harvesting of sugar cane, working in alliance with the government sector and at the same time determining and regulating protected adolescent labor endorsed in El Salvador's national legislation.
Central American sugar growers launch regional child labor prevention campaign
With the start of preparatory activities for the new 2022-2023 sugarcane harvest, the Asociación de Azucareros del Istmo Centroamericano (AICA) and the sugar organizations of the six countries of the region that make up the association, today launched the campaign "¡Yo te cuido!", whose objective is to contribute to raising awareness about the importance of preventing child labor in the sector.
