The Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) has enabled the exchange of the Bono Agrícola (BAG) nationwide. Since may 18, producers in the eastern region (La Unión, Morazán, San Miguel, and Usulután) have been acquiring their supplies. This means that more than 500,000 farmers can now access this government benefit that boosts production.

The Bono Agrícola provides direct support to farming families, allowing them to purchase seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs necessary to strengthen the production of staple grains and vegetables. Furthermore, this initiative contributes to building farmers’ resilience to the effects of climate change and variations in weather conditions.

“I am grateful because I redeemed my Bono Agrícola (BAG) this morning. I thank the government for this assistance in cultivating our cornfields and bean fields, as it benefits my family’s food security”, said William Morataya, a farmer from Berlín, Usulután.

María Estela Gómez, another beneficiary, emphasized that the program comes at a crucial time for the eastern agricultural sector. “I use the fertilizer to grow corn, beans, squash, and pumpkin seeds. The agricultural supplies we receive with the card help make our crops more productive”, Gómez said after purchasing her supplies.

To redeem the Bono, producers must present their Documento Único de Identidad (DUI) and their BAG card at any of the authorized establishments. Beneficiaries have up to 60 days to purchase the agricultural supplies required for their crops.
The Bono Agrícola is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen food security, boost the rural economy, and support small-scale Salvadoran producers.
