TAG Airlines has reactivated its direct air route between Guatemala and San Salvador, a connection that aims to boost economic activity between the two countries by facilitating business travel, trade, and tourism.
The route will operate four times a week: Mondays and wednesdays in the morning, plus two flights on fridays, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The airline emphasized that this new service would expand transportation options for businesspeople, investors, and travelers.
The reopening of this route responds to the growing demand for air connectivity in Central America and represents an opportunity to strengthen economic ties between Guatemala and El Salvador, two markets with significant trade and tourism relationships.

Marcela Toriello, President and CEO of TAG Airlines, said that the connection between the two destinations will foster new development opportunities through safe, efficient, and reliable air service.
The executive director of El Salvador’s Autoridad de Aviación Civil de El Salvador, Homero Morales, highlighted that the airline’s increased flight frequencies reflect a market that demands greater connectivity and confidence to continue investing in the country.
From the tourism sector, El Salvador’s minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, indicated that Guatemala is one of the main source markets for visitors to El Salvador. Through June 2026, the country received 1.1 million guatemalan tourists, demonstrating the importance of strengthening connections between the two nations.

In addition to the tourism impact, the route aims to facilitate travel for businesspeople and professionals, fostering business meetings, investment opportunities, and new business relationships.
The president of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), Federico Anliker, stated that this connection strengthens economic, commercial, and cultural ties between Guatemala and El Salvador, while also contributing to the growth of El Salvador International Airport.
As part of its growth strategy, TAG Airlines is undergoing a new modernization phase that includes the addition of state-of-the-art ATR 72 aircraft, capable of carrying up to 72 passengers. These planes are recognized for their operational efficiency, high safety standards, and reduced environmental impact, which strengthens regional air connectivity. The airline, considered the flag carrier of Guatemala and the Mayan World, has 60 years of experience promoting air transport, tourism, and economic development in Central America.
With the reactivation of this route, TAG Airlines expands regional connectivity and offers a new alternative to boost tourism, business, and economic exchange between the two countries.
