Housing Minister Michelle Sol’s recent statement on the release of US$2,457.1 million in construction and plot permits during the current government’s tenure stands out as a significant milestone for the housing sector and the national economy. This investment not only represents a substantial economic boost, but also has the potential to catalyze job creation in multiple sectors related to construction and infrastructure.
The announcement underscores the Ministry of Housing’s commitment to the country’s urban and rural development, highlighting the strategic importance of facilitating and accelerating the construction and urbanization processes. In addition, the minister highlighted that, in order to grant permits, there is an articulated work of different governmental institutions such as: Ministry of Environment, ANDA, CNR, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Public Works.
The release of these funds not only strengthens the housing infrastructure, but also contributes to improving the quality of life of citizens by providing more housing and community development options. In addition, this step could have a positive impact on other economic sectors, such as the building materials trade, real estate and financial services, as well as the related supply chain.
Investment in housing infrastructure not only fosters economic growth in the short term, but also lays the foundation for sustainable and equitable urban development in the long term.
