As part of the Christmas and New Year’s Eve season, the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) has announced special hours at the Central de Abastos and Agromercados of the country to facilitate purchases of fresh and quality products. The Central de Abastos will operate on december 24 and 31 from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., while on december 26 and january 2 it will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It should be noted that it will be closed on december 25 and january 1.
In the case of the Agromercados, the special schedule for december 24 and 31 will be from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. On december 26 and january 2, they will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., remaining closed on december 25 and january 1. These markets allow consumers to purchase fresh, quality products directly from the producers, eliminating intermediaries.
MAG’s Agromercados are an excellent option for obtaining food at fair prices. In them, families can find a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, meats, dairy products and other fresh produce such as tomatoes, celery, carrots, corn and bananas. This not only promotes a balanced diet, but also benefits the family economy due to the affordable cost of the products.
The acceptance of the Agromercados among the population has been positive. To date, there are more than 50 marketing points distributed in the country’s 14 departments, guaranteeing access to fresh, quality food in the different regions. These initiatives strengthen the link between producers and consumers, promoting local agricultural development.
This season, MAG invites the population to take advantage of the extended hours and enjoy the experience of acquiring fresh produce, directly from the producer and at fair prices. This action reflects the institution’s commitment to food security and the economy of salvadoran families, highlighting the importance of consuming local and supporting small farmers in the country.
