The Ministry of Finance requested the Legislative Assembly to approve a $60 million loan with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The funds would be destined to the “Program for the Development of El Salvador’s Data Infrastructure”, with the objective of modernizing the management of public information.

If the Assembly approves the request, the Government will be able to sign the contract with the IDB and execute the project. The initiative seeks to strengthen the digital infrastructure of state institutions, optimizing data collection and analysis to improve decision making.
The project also aims to streamline procedures and public services through digitalization, reducing costs and waiting times for citizens and businesses. It is also expected to contribute to greater transparency in government management.

On february 7, 2024, the Assembly authorized the Executive to manage this financing. However, the contract must still be approved and published in the official journal before it can be signed and executed.

If the loan is approved, El Salvador would advance in its digital transformation, allowing a more efficient management of public data and benefiting the population with more agile and accessible services.
