US$12 million investment to expand the airport check-in area

The Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA) is expanding the check in area of El Salvador's international airport, with the purpose of increasing 41 double counters with a capacity for 82 positions. The project is 33% complete and has an investment of US$12 million.

With the expansion, the area will reach a total of 7,160 square meters and 122 service points.

It was also reported that the air terminal recorded a 29% increase in commercial air operations compared to last year.

For Easter Week they expect to serve 240,000 arriving, departing and connecting passengers, 30% more compared to the same period last year.

CEPA President, Federico Anliker stated that the expansion of the "check in" area is a project that is in line with the increase in passenger demand that El Salvador has been experiencing in recent months.

Previously, the official also explained that the project responds to the request made by some airlines for more space to serve passengers.
