The Government of El Salvador, through the Comisión Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE), together with the Consejo de Administración del Fondo Especial de los Recursos Provenientes de la Privatización de ANTEL (FANTEL), and with the support of the El Parque Tecnológico en Agroindustria (PTA), inaugurated the first Training and Cosmetic Production Center in the country.

For the first time in the history of El Salvador, MSEs in the cosmetics and cleaning products sector will have the first natural cosmetics processing plant, with the purpose of providing entrepreneurs with machinery and facilities to manufacture their products in an industrial way, abandoning the artisanal processes and equipment that restrict their productive capacity and cause illnesses and work accidents due to the conditions in which they operate. It will also be a training center for entrepreneurs in the field.

We have the support of FANTEL, who invested more than US$53,000 to launch this project, which will undoubtedly benefit the MSEs in this sector.

The manufacturing capacity of the Cosmetics Plant will be 160 liters of production per day, 320 units of shampoo and liquid soap in 250 ml presentation; and 160 units of body cream in 500 ml presentation, already packaged and labeled.

The equipment available to the entrepreneurs will be a stainless steel mixer with a capacity of 80 liters and adjustable agitation speed, a semi-automatic stainless steel packaging machine with adjustable packaging volume, 3 stainless steel tables, 2 scales with a capacity of 30 kg, and an adequate space for training.

CONAMYPE's new specialized center will offer technical and business advice, use of the facilities, and follow-up on the formulation of cosmetic products for the production of shampoo, creams and liquid soap.

The implementation of this Training and Cosmetic Production Center is framed in the development of Objective No. 2 of the Plan Cuscatlán: "To develop the capacities of alternative economies in order to improve the sustainability of families and communities with special emphasis on those initiatives of vulnerable groups".
