American Airlines resumed its air operations between Miami, United States, and Cap Haitien, Haiti, with a daily flight that seeks to restore the international connectivity of the Caribbean country and strengthen commercial and economic ties between both nations. The United States Embassy in Haiti welcomed the resumption of service, which began on november 1.
Through publication on X social network, the US diplomatic representation highlighted the importance of recovering this air connection. “The U.S. Embassy welcomes the return of American Airlines flights to Haiti on november 1, reinforcing key trade, travel and economic ties between the United States and Haiti”.
According to international media, including the Haitian newspaper HaitiLibre, the inaugural flight AA2492 took off from Miami, Florida, at 10:30 a.m. local time, and landed safely at 12:28 p.m. at the Cap-Haïtien International Airport.

The route will have a daily frequency and will be operated with American Airlines Boeing 737 aircraft. In addition to offering a direct connection between both cities, it will allow passengers to access more than 90 connection options to other US destinations through the airline’s connection center in Miami.
During the service resumption ceremony, representatives of the Haitian Civil Aviation highlighted the importance of recovering this transportation alternative, which will facilitate the travel of the Haitian diaspora, family trips and commercial and business activities. The connection also represents an alternative to improving international mobility in a country that has faced difficulties in maintaining its air links.
American Airlines maintains a historical relationship with Haiti, where it has provided service since 1971. The return of this route represents the continuity of its operations in the Haitian market and recovers an important link with the United States, one of the main destinations of the Caribbean country’s diaspora.

The resumption of flights comes as Haiti continues to face a complex security crisis due to violence by armed groups that control large areas of Port-au-Prince. The clashes have caused thousands of deaths, displacement of inhabitants and constant operations by security agencies to regain territorial control.
Despite this scenario, the reestablishment of the connection between Miami and Cap-Haïtien represents a step to recover Haiti’s air connectivity. The daily operation will allow maintaining a direct communication channel with the United States and facilitating passenger travel for family, economic and commercial reasons.
