The Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM) has announced the update of propane gas prices for February, highlighting the stability in costs for consumers. Thanks to government subsidies, thousands of households will continue to benefit from affordable rates on a product that is essential for daily life. This measure seeks to alleviate the economic burden on families and guarantee access to cooking fuel.
For the 35-pound cylinder, the price with the general subsidy is US$15.50, while with the targeted subsidy it decreases to US$7.46. The 25-pound cylinder maintains a cost of US$11.13 with the general subsidy and only US$3.09 with the targeted subsidy. These figures reflect the government’s commitment to provide affordable prices to the population.
The 20-pound cylinder, one of the most commonly used in households, remains at US$8.98 with the general subsidy, but those who enjoy the targeted benefit will only pay US$0.94. In the case of the 10-pound cylinder, the cost with general subsidy is US$4.61, but for those who apply for the targeted subsidy, it is completely free. This initiative allows the most vulnerable families to have access to this resource without affecting their economy.
The authorities urge the population to verify whether they are beneficiaries of the targeted subsidy and to make proper use of government support. The correct administration of this benefit is key to guarantee that it reaches those who really need it, avoiding abuses and ensuring the sustainability of the program.
In a context of fluctuations in international fuel prices, the stability in the cost of propane gas represents a relief for households.
The Government reaffirms its commitment to the welfare of the population and will continue to evaluate measures to maintain accessible prices and encourage responsible consumption of this essential resource.
