A. M. El Salvador’s Fondo de Conservación Vial (FOVIAL) has announced a budget allocation of US$173 million for 2025, earmarked for the execution of important road infrastructure works throughout the country. This investment seeks to significantly improve connectivity and safety on the main transportation arteries.
Among the most important projects is the construction of a modern highway that will connect the Chalchuapa district with the Guatemalan border, with an investment of $11 million. This project is crucial for trade and tourism in the western region of El Salvador.
Alex Beltrán, Director of FOVIAL, reported that work on the Chalchuapa route is approximately 70% complete, with the paving of the last 5 kilometers. Despite the weather conditions, the teams continue working to meet the established deadlines.
In the eastern part of the country, FOVIAL is about to deliver the revitalization of the road leading to San Francisco Gotera in Morazán, a project valued at US$13 million. This work will directly benefit thousands of inhabitants and producers in the region.
Beltrán also mentioned that phase 2 of the road connecting San Francisco Gotera with Delicias de Concepción, with more than 12 kilometers of paving, is close to 80% complete. These road improvements will boost the economic and social development of the communities.
