The Ministry of Finance of El Salvador alerted the public about the circulation of a false notice on social media that uses its name to spread misinformation. The fake document details alleged inspections of businesses and collection points, an action that the institution categorically denied through its official channels. This alert seeks to prevent scams and the spread of misinformation that could affect citizens.

The fraudulent notice, which has been widely shared, mentions that the Customs Directorate, in coordination with other entities such as the Viceministerio de Transporte, Fiscalía General de la República and Policía Nacional Civil, would be conducting inspections. These alleged inspections would be carried out in shopping centers, public squares, public streets, and unauthorized collection points.
The false information warns of possible seizures of merchandise and establishes legal requirements, including the presentation of documents such as the Commercial Registry. The Ministry of Finance reiterated that neither this entity nor the Customs Directorate has any involvement in the content of the statement. The public was urged to be wary of unverified messages circulating on the internet.

Treasury officials reiterated the importance of verifying the authenticity of any information involving the institution. They urge people to always consult official channels and report any attempted scams. The agency seeks to protect citizens from falling into deception and avoid financial losses.

With the message “Be suspicious, verify, don’t fall for a scam!”, accompanied by a false statement crossed out with the word “FALSE”, the Ministry of Finance reinforces its commitment to transparency and security. It emphasizes that the only way to obtain truthful and reliable information is through its official platforms and social media, such as @HaciendaSV and its website mh.gob.sv.
