San Salvador was dressed with joy to kick off its traditional festivities in honor of the Divine Savior of the World. The celebration began with a mariachi serenade and the distribution of atol Shuco, marking the start of the Mail Parade. This parade is the first significant event that officially opens the August festivities, filling the streets with color and enthusiasm.
The traditional parade started from the emblematic Plaza del Salvador del Mundo. Along the route, attendees enjoyed a vibrant display of festivities, color, musical bands, and batons. Each year, the event attracts numerous spectators who immerse themselves in the joy and festivity of the beginning of august.
Mayor Mario Durán also actively participated in the celebration. He rode on a “congabus”, where he interacted with the crowd throwing candy and chocolates, which added a special touch to the event and contributed to the festive atmosphere.
The parade culminated near Parque Cuscatlán , where a stage had been set up for the presentations. At this point, the mayor and special guests were able to enjoy a series of performances that included musical bands, cachiporristas and choreographic groups, highlighting the diversity and cultural richness of the celebration.
The festivities in San Salvador not only highlight religious devotion, but also the unity and joy of the community. Each year, these events become an opportunity for residents and visitors to share memorable moments and proudly celebrate their cultural heritage.
