The United States Embassy in El Salvador issued an alert to the population regarding the circulation of misleading videos on social networks such as Facebook and TikTok, in which human traffickers promote supposed “safe” methods to illegally enter United States territory.
According to the diplomatic representation, these contents present false information about alleged secret routes, elaborate tunnels or other clandestine forms of crossing, with the aim of defrauding migrants and convincing them to hire coyotaje services. The embassy warned that these types of messages not only imply economic fraud, but also expose people to serious risks to their lives and physical integrity.

In its statement, the diplomatic headquarters stressed that security on the United States border is currently more reinforced and monitored than ever, so attempts at irregular crossing are doomed to failure. He said that none of the supposed “alternatives” that circulate on social networks are real or viable, and that those who promote them only seek to obtain money at the expense of the vulnerability of migrants.
The embassy emphasized that human traffickers often take advantage of the misinformation and desperation of those seeking to migrate, offering promises that they cannot keep and hiding the true dangers of the trip, such as the possibility of suffering extortion, kidnapping, abandonment in desert areas or even death.

Likewise, he called on the population to obtain information only through official channels and not to trust publications or videos that promise “easy” or “safe” crossings into the United States. He also urged people to report this type of misleading content on social networks, to prevent more people from becoming victims of scams and human trafficking networks.
Finally, the diplomatic representation reiterated that the only legal way to enter the United States is through the immigration processes established by law and insisted that no trafficker can guarantee a successful irregular crossing. The warning is part of ongoing efforts by US authorities to combat misinformation and prevent more migrants from putting their lives and property at risk.
