The Vice Minister Ad-Honorem of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG), Óscar Domínguez, reported that the Production Increase Program has generated positive results in strengthening the agricultural sector during 2025, with increases in the national production of vegetables, fruits, staple grains, and coffee.
According to the official, one of the main achievements has been the absence of food shortages throughout the year, which, he explained, has contributed to maintaining market stability and consumer confidence.
Production and price stability
Domínguez assured that the increase in local production allowed for a basic food basket with stable prices and even reductions in several products. He also noted that El Salvador currently maintains the most affordable basic food basket in the region and registers the lowest inflation compared to neighboring countries.

The official attributed the demand to a strategy focused on increasing agricultural productivity, improving responsiveness to domestic demand, and diversifying international markets to facilitate competition.
In that context, he emphasized that the country has reduced its dependence on a single foreign trading partner, strengthening strategic alliances that expand supply and marketing options.
Boost to the Livestock Sector

In his message, the Vice Minister also referred to the strengthening of the livestock sector, highlighting the incorporation of high-genetic-value specimens to improve bovine production in the country. He mentioned that one of these bulls will contribute to reproduction and the increase of the national cattle herd, which will allow for increased milk and meat productivity in the coming years.
Comprehensive Strategy
The Production Increase Program is part of policies aimed at strengthening food security, revitalizing the rural sector, and guaranteeing access to affordable food. Authorities maintain that the approach combines technical support for producers, genetic improvement, trade liberalization, and coordination with international partners.
According to the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG), the objective is to consolidate a sustainable model that maintains price stability, boosts the competitiveness of Salvadoran agriculture, and continues to reduce food inflation.
