
The inauguration of the Kinich Energy Olocuilta solar project, in the Jayuca canton, Olocuilta district, La Paz Oeste, marks a significant boost for job creation and local economic development. It will create employment opportunities related to the operation and maintenance of energy infrastructure, as well as address the demand for specialized talent.
The minister of Economy of El Salvador, María Luisa Hayem, along with the Executive Director of COAMSS/OPAMSS, Luis Rodríguez, participated in the inauguration of this initiative, highlighting its impact on the well-being of families and the revitalization of the economy.
The plant represents an investment of US$44.8 million and has an installed capacity of 43.9 megawatts peak, with an estimated generation of 70,000 megawatt-hours per year, which will supply more than 23,300 homes.
Boosting the economy and investment
During the event, Luis Rodríguez emphasized that government support for private investment has been key to the growth of the construction and energy sectors, noting that these types of projects are strategic for the country’s development.

He also indicated that private investment in the San Salvador Metropolitan Area has exceeded US$5.5 billion, while projects worth approximately US$3 billion are currently underway, reflecting a dynamic environment for new initiatives.
A commitment to clean energy
Minister María Luisa Hayem highlighted that the project strengthens the national energy matrix and contributes to consolidating El Salvador as a country with a high share of renewable energy.
She explained that these types of initiatives not only allow for sustainable economic growth but also encourage investment by offering more efficient and environmentally friendly energy conditions.
Social impact and local development
The project will also have a direct impact on nearby communities by facilitating access to energy for homes and businesses, thus contributing to boosting productive activity in the area.

Likewise, the demand for technical and specialized personnel to operate the plant opens new opportunities for local talent, strengthening workforce capabilities in sectors related to energy and technology.
Private sector participation
The minister acknowledged the role of Aristos Energy, a company that is consolidating its position as one of the main players in solar energy generation in the country, highlighting its contribution to economic growth and the development of the energy sector.
With the implementation of this project, El Salvador is advancing in the integration of renewable energies, job creation, and investment attraction, consolidating its sustainable development in the energy sector.
