Salvadoran farmers are preparing their plots for planting corn, beans, and vegetables, while others continue with established crops, driven by access to affordable agricultural inputs offered by AGROCENTA’s 15 sales points nationwide.
At the San Andrés, La Libertad sales center, the dynamism in input sales is evident, as farmers from different districts take advantage of the government initiative to stock up on essential products for their crops.

“Buying fertilizers at affordable prices promotes agriculture and contributes to food security, because it’s something we had neglected and are now reactivating. We are increasing our productive areas. We started with half a manzana (approximately 1.7 acres), so we only bought one quintal (approximately 100 pounds) of 15-15-15 fertilizer, one quintal (approximately 100 pounds) of 16-20-0 fertilizer, and one quintal (approximately 100 pounds) of ammonium sulfate”, said Raúl Rivera, who grows squash, green beans, and cucumbers in Sonsonate.
David Méndez said, “This is my second time coming here. I’m grateful to the government because we really find a lot of support in these places that offer us good prices”. The farmer from San Juan Opico purchased fertilizers for his corn, bean, sorghum, tomato, chili pepper, and ayote crops.

AGROCENTA’s 15 sales points provide timely and efficient service monday through friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The store is open 24 hours a day, without closing at midday, making it easier for producers to access their crops. They also offer customer service via phone at 2355-3015 or WhatsApp at 6968-2973.

Producers emphasize that this initiative, promoted by the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) and Centro Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria y Forestal (CENTA) contributes to increased national production. They also assert that the accessibility of these products is allowing them to reactivate previously uncultivated lands.

AGROCENTA’s head of marketing and sales, José Luis Rodríguez, noted that the low-cost inputs support producers so they can continue producing without impacting their finances. “Ammonium sulfate is one of the most widely used products by staple grain farmers and is an essential input for harvesting, especially during this season. We are pleased to support producers so they can access these inputs at favorable prices”, he said.
