The Banco Centroamericano de Integración Económica (BCIE) highlighted that the Green MSMEs Initiative II has channeled more than US$28 million in credits to micro, small and medium-sized businesses in El Salvador, facilitating investments in clean technologies and sustainable processes. This financing has allowed many companies to access solutions such as solar panels, more efficient equipment and productive improvements that would otherwise have been difficult to afford.
The initiative was presented as an effort aimed at responding to the growing demand of MSMEs for green financing, promoting a more sustainable, innovative and resilient growth model in the salvadoran business sector. The program not only focuses on access to credit, but also on strengthening the capabilities of companies to adapt to new environmental and market demands.

In terms of impact, CABEI highlighted that the program has contributed to the strengthening of more than 2,000 jobs and has trained more than 1,400 people on topics related to sustainability and business efficiency. These actions seek to generate a multiplier effect in the economy, promoting responsible practices that improve the competitiveness of MSMEs.
Additionally, around US$16 million has been allocated in technical assistance, including training, partial credit guarantees and activities to promote the sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem. This component has been key to accompanying companies in the implementation of green projects, reducing risks and facilitating their transition to more efficient models.
The program is the result of a joint effort between the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, the Government of Germany through KfW and the European Union, consolidating international cooperation focused on the sustainable development of the business sector.

During the presentation of results, it was highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader vision aligned with green and circular economy models, promoting the use of clean technologies and responsible practices in companies. This approach allows not only to reduce environmental impact, but also to improve operational efficiency and open new opportunities in markets that demand sustainable standards.
After a decade of implementation, the Green MSMEs Initiative II is positioned as a key instrument to promote the transformation of the business fabric in El Salvador, demonstrating that sustainability can be a real driver of economic growth when combined with financing, technical assistance and international cooperation.
