The SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO successfully held the “Congreso Emprende Salvadoreña”, its sixth edition, designed specifically to create a space to strengthen the leadership, holistic well-being, and business growth of salvadoran women. The event brought together more than 1,000 participants, including businesswomen, entrepreneurs, senior executives, students, and clients from various sectors of the country.

Behind each edition of the congress lies a clear conviction: when salvadoran women grow, the country grows. According to the results of the Encuesta de Hogares de Propósitos Múltiples 2025 from the Banco Central de Reserva, salvadoran women currently represent more than half of the country’s adult population (53.3%), solidifying their position as a fundamental engine of the economy: they start businesses, support households, generate employment, and drive entire communities. Recognizing their leading role as drivers of national economic development, the SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO firmly believes that investing in Salvadoran women is investing in the country’s growth. This is why initiatives like the “Congreso Emprende Salvadoreña”, are developed.

“At the FEDECRÉDITO SYSTEM, we firmly believe in the talent, leadership, and transformative capacity of Salvadoran women. Through events like the “Congreso Emprende Salvadoreña”, we seek to generate tools, inspiration, and opportunities that promote their personal and business growth”, said Claudia Abrego, Communications manager at FEDECRÉDITO.

The importance of salvadoran women in the national economy is supported by statistics. According to the Comisión Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE), women own 64% of the country’s microenterprises and 26% of its small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), employing approximately 52% of all workers in the SME sector. In addition, according to the 2025 Multiple Purpose Household Survey, there are 879,068 female heads of household in El Salvador, women who support entire families and drive the economy from their communities, both in urban and rural areas.

They are entrepreneurs, job creators, and pillars of their households, yet they still face significant gaps in access to financial tools that would allow them to continue growing. This is evidenced in the 2025 National Survey of Financial Inclusion and Education by the Banco Central de Reserva. Recognizing this leading role, and acting accordingly, is what drives the SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO. to support events like the “Congreso Emprende Salvadoreña”, considering that education and financial inclusion are fundamental pillars for the development of our people, the SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO shared its podcast “Ponete buzo con tus finanzas”, dedicated specifically to strengthening salvadorans’ knowledge of financial education, which can be found on their YouTube channel.

In this edition, the congress featured renowned national and international speakers who enriched the event with their stories, knowledge, and perspectives focused on the comprehensive empowerment of salvadoran women. The voices that took the stage at this year’s event were: Lisseth Díaz and Karla Díaz, founders of Neways and Lift Fitness Center, who shared their experiences as salvadoran mothers, entrepreneurs, and businesswomen, addressing topics related to discipline, business growth, brand building, and women-led businesses; Mariela Pitocco, speaker and ontological coach, who delivered a presentation focused on emotional well-being, personal growth, and conscious leadership; and finally, the keynote address was given by Dr. Mario Alonso Puig, a renowned surgeon, author, and international leader in leadership, on the topic: “Believing is Creating: Illuminate Your World by Unleashing Your Greatness” a specialist in stress management, self-help, and personal reinvention.

“Each year we celebrate the “Congreso Emprende Salvadoreña”, ‘ it reminds us of the reason it was created: because salvadoran women need opportunities and tools to achieve their goals and fulfill their dreams”. “That’s exactly what we’re aiming for,” said Claudia Abrego, Communications manager for the SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO.
