The president of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), Federico Anliker, highlighted that Aeropuerto Internacional de El Salvador maintains sustained growth indicators, registering 5.2 million passengers and an average of 40,000 air operations per year.
The statements were made during the presentation of a new seasonal air route connecting San Salvador with Madrid, an initiative that seeks to strengthen connectivity between El Salvador and Europe during the summer season on that continent.
Anliker noted that these results reflect the strengthening of the national aviation sector and the growing confidence of airlines and travelers in the country. He also affirmed that work continues under a vision of greater international connectivity to expand travel options and facilitate commercial, tourism, and cultural exchange.

The new air connection was presented by representatives of Avianca, national authorities, and the Embassy of Spain in El Salvador. The route will operate from june 15th to september 15th, with four weekly flights operated by the Spanish airline Wamos.
During the event, the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, emphasized that El Salvador continues to solidify its position as a strategic gateway for the Central American region and affirmed that strengthening air connectivity contributes to attracting more international visitors.
The minister detailed that, so far this year, the country has received approximately 25,000 visitors from Europe. She also said that the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) ranks El Salvador among the nations with the best performance in tourism growth internationally.

Reyna Mejía, Avianca’s Sales Director for Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean, stated that the route between San Salvador and Madrid has shown significant demand in previous seasons, and its reactivation strengthens the ties between El Salvador and Spain.
With the addition of this temporary connection, the authorities and companies involved seek to expand mobility options for european passengers and strengthen El Salvador’s position as a destination increasingly connected to major international markets.
